STYLE: Winter Layers

Piling on the layers to stay warm throughout the winter months is pretty much like "no duh".  But piling on the layers and avoiding channeling bag lady chic can be a little bit trickier.  Its an art we've been forced to master here in chilly chilly Chicago.

The secret formula to a layered look that works goes something like this:  your favorite summer dress + a simple long sleeve shirt + a classic plaid button up/cardigan/blazer + opaque black tights = you're good to go!  Below we share two very different (but very cozy) ways to get through the winter in style.

On Lauren // dress: Ecote for UO // striped shirt: Target // plaid button up: thrifted (similar here)

On Claire // dress: past collection from Forever21 // denim shirt: Mossimo Suppply Co. // blazer: Sparkle & Fade
