Flowers for Dreams

Flowers for Valentine's Day. It's kind of like, duh, right? Bouquets for your boo are such a sweet gesture, but overpriced options and cheesy choices (carnation cupcakes? Um, no.) leave us more than hesitant to phone in an order. Enter Flowers For Dreams, a seriously dreamy artisan flower service that has us rethinking the whole floral delivery thing. They provide locally sourced, hand designed and crafted, affordable, organic bouquets delivered (often on bicycle!) to just about anywhere in the city, for free. Not only that, but every bouquet sold benefits a local charity!
Over the weekend, we had the chance to visit the Flowers For Dreams studio and chat with these sweet folks who are trying to make flowers more inspiring and accessible.

Flowers For Dreams launched their first website in 2012 and began traversing the city daily, delivering fresh flowers and impacting those in need. But their story began way before, as an unassuming project between college students Steven Dyme and Joseph Dickstein. Dyme and Dickstein posted up outside high school graduation ceremonies, selling roses to the parents of students. They made fast cash, stashing some away some of their profit and using the rest to buy backpacks for the low income students they tutored during the summer. Not even two months later, a total of 600 backpacks had been donated and Dyme and Dickstein had laid the ground work for the business model they stick to today: make a little money and make a difference!

These darling do-gooders have contributed nearly $67,000 to local non-profits in the three short years Flowers For Dreams has been around. Each month, they feature one worthy cause and contribute 1/4 of their profits to it. This month every bouquet supports One Tail at a Time, a no-kill dog shelter and rescue. Some of our closest doggy friends have been rescued from One Tail and we love the work that they are doing!

And, as if they weren't already putting enough good vibes out in to the world, Flowers For Dreams' bouquets come wrapped in recyclable material. Their stems are hand-curated daily at local markets, so spoilage and waste is cut down to next to nothing.

We are so bowled over by the generosity of this little company and the beauty they are delivering to this city! So we're super excited to share that Flowers For Dreams is offering Foxtail + Moss readers a discount on any bouquet they order before Valentine's Day! Check out the oh so lovely options here and enter discount code: foxtailmoss at checkout.
