Inspired // the Nursery

With my due date looming just a couple months away, I've caught the nesting bug big time. I'm just beginning to put some serious thought into the nursery. So far we have purchased and put together a crib (aka the cat's new favorite napping spot- should probably break her of that habit soon!) but otherwise the room is looking pretty naked! Although we don't plan on staying in our apartment for the long haul, I want to pick lovely and functional pieces that we can grow and move with. On my wish list...plenty of plants, fiber art wall hangings, tons of storage in pretty prayer baskets, a fun and brightly patterned rug, a cozy glider to cuddle up in, and a sweet and simple mobile to hang above Moon Pie's little head.

Autumn is here and we couldn't be more excited! We always crush hard on the season and this year is no exception. We'll be cooking unlimited batches of hearty soups, wearing adorable loafers, making beautiful pine cone garland to decorate our homes, and enjoying as many bonfires as possible. My husband and I are planning an upcoming trip to hit the open road and head west. I can't tell you how excited I am to get out of my every day routine and into vacation mood! Recharge, rejuvenate, and get inspired by this beautiful country is my goal. We'll be visiting cities, small mountain towns, the country, and a couple national parks. Variety is the spice of life and I can't wait to see what we'll be cooking up!

The perfect road trip wouldn't be complete without a delicious homemade trail mix, the perfect vacation tee, a journal, and a commemorative tattoo to celebrate your amazing trip.

With the holiday weekend here, we only have a couple things on our mind - grilling, swimming, spending time with friends, and of course fireworks. Put down the beef and try a portobello burger. Get super festive and rock a fun american flag bathing suit. Are you hosting a get together? Make a fun green garland to spruce up your table. And of course no fourth of July is complete without sparklers.

Tomorrow is the Summer Solstice which means summer will officially begin (and it's the longest day of the year)! Remember the Winter Solstice? After such a rough winter, we've been spending as much time as possible outside and loving the warmer weather. Like the rest of America, we were glued to our televisions last night watching the 86th Annual Academy Awards.  The night had some seriously fabulous moments... 12 Years A Slave's big win, Jennifer Garner's silver fringy gown, Matthew McConaughey's sweet shout out to his father during his acceptance speech, Cate Blanchett.  And some seriously cringe inducing moments...Pharrell's shorts, John Travolta butchering Idina Menzel's name, Matthew McConaughey's weird shout out to his future hero self during his acceptance speech.  All in all it was a pretty great night.
